Introduction
Ah, Norwich. Fine city. But when it comes to taking your driving test here, there’s always that one question every learner eventually asks…
“Which is the easiest Norwich driving test centre?”
And fair enough. If you’re about to throw yourself into an intensive course, nerves jangling, clutch foot twitching, the last thing you want is a test centre that feels like a war zone. So let’s make this simple.
There are two places in Norwich where you can take your practical test: Peachman Way and Jupiter Road. One’s calmer. The other? A bit more full on. And yes, the pass rates do vary.
We’re The Best Intensive Driving School, and we’ve been guiding learners across Norwich’s roads for years. Today, we’re laying it all out for you: the routes, the numbers, and a few thoughts from behind the wheel.
Norwich Driving Test Centres Overview
Peachman Way is over in Thorpe St Andrew, tucked inside the Broadland Business Park. Think wide roads, retail units, business traffic. Not exactly sleepy, but it gives you room to breathe.
Jupiter Road, by contrast, is nestled in Hellesdon. A bit more urban. A little tighter. You’ll likely find yourself sharing the road with buses, cyclists, and Norwich’s occasional “no-indicator” expert.
So, which is easier?
Let’s look at the stats.
According to PassDrivingTest.co.uk, Peachman Way had a 59.2% pass rate in 2024. Over at Jupiter Road, that figure was 41.55%.
You read that right. Nearly a 20% difference. That’s not just a tiny edge, that’s a full on head start.
Still not sure where these places are? Here’s the official DVSA test centre finder, if you fancy having a nose yourself.
What Makes Peachman Way So Pass-Friendly?
We’ve been training students around both centres for years, and we can tell you straight: Peachman has a more forgiving rhythm.
Routes tend to kick off through business parks and suburban stretches. You’ll hit a roundabout or two, and yes, you may find yourself merging onto a dual carriageway (usually the A47). But generally? The pace is steady. Predictable. Learner-friendly.
It’s the kind of area where, even when you make a mistake, you’ve usually got time and space to recover, which can’t always be said for tight city junctions or nose-to-tail traffic.
The Reality of Jupiter Road
Well. It’s not for the faint hearted.
The routes from Jupiter Road often steer you into busier parts of town. Think more pedestrians, more sudden stops, more vehicles jostling at traffic lights. You might find yourself navigating a mini-roundabout one minute, then edging past parked cars on a tight street the next.
Does that mean it’s a bad choice? Not at all. But if you’re hoping for a calm, clear run, especially if nerves are part of the picture, it’s worth thinking twice.
That said, if you’re a confident driver who enjoys being tested, Jupiter Road will absolutely sharpen your skills.
What We Tell Our Learners
It’s not about picking an “easy way out.” It’s about matching the centre to your confidence level.
We always start by asking a few simple questions. How’s your awareness under pressure? Do tight streets stress you out? Can you handle multi-lane roundabouts when you’ve got three seconds to choose a lane?
If that last one made your stomach turn, Peachman might be more your pace.

Want to Pass First Time? Do This
Practise on real test routes. We make sure you’re driving the same types of roads, roundabouts and junctions that your examiner will take you through. Nothing new. No surprises.
Mock test, mock test, mock test. Yes, it’s a bit of a buzzword. But you’ve got to experience the pressure, examiner silence, clipboard in hand, before the real deal. We’ll put you through it, and coach you through every misstep.
Book at the right time. Want to avoid the school run madness or lunch hour congestion? Mid-morning tests are gold. Around 10:30 or 11am is usually just about right.
Pick a course that fits. Not everyone needs 30 hours. And trust us, no one should be doing just 5. We’ll assess where you’re at, honestly. Then build a plan that actually works.
The Bottom Line
Your test centre matters. The stats say so. Your confidence says so. And we’ve seen it first-hand, time and time again.
If you’re after a smoother, quieter test experience, Peachman Way is your go-to. If you’re ready for more of a challenge, Jupiter Road is a solid option.
And wherever you choose, we’ll help you prepare for it like it’s your home turf.
